Abstract
The world today is faced with excessive amounts of food waste, with largest amounts of food waste coming from households and food services. Food sharing helps reduce food waste, while helping those in need. Mobile food sharing applications are becoming increasingly popular around the world. The aim of this research is to find out how familiar generations Y and Z are with food sharing, how willing they are to share food, and how familiar they are with mobile foods sharing apps. The results of the research show that young people are neither familiar enough with food sharing concepts, nor with mobile food sharing applications. Therefore, it is important to educate consumers and raise their awareness of both harmfulness of wasted food, and possibilities of food sharing.
