- General Information
The scientific journal Agroeconomia Croatica was established in 2001 with the publication of its first issue. After an eleven-year hiatus (until 2012), the journal has been published regularly on an annual basis by the Croatian Society of Agricultural Economists. Since 2022, the journal has been published twice a year in an online format only.
The journal publishes papers in the fields of:
- agricultural policy
- agricultural economics
- rural development
- agricultural markets and marketing
- agricultural finance and credit
- rural sociology and legislation
- food industry economics
- digital agriculture
Papers are published in Croatian and English.
- Types of Contributions
The journal publishes the following types of manuscripts:
- original scientific papers
- preliminary communications
- review papers
- professional papers
- Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process:
- each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers
- the identities of authors and reviewers are mutually concealed
- the editorial board makes the final decision
In case of conflicting reviews, the editor may request an additional review.
- Publication Ethics
The journal adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Authors:
- submit original work
- confirm that the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere
- properly cite all sources
- are responsible for the accuracy of the data
Reviewers:
- provide objective and professional evaluations
- maintain confidentiality
Editors:
- ensure a fair and unbiased review process
- make decisions on manuscript acceptance or rejection

Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
Manuscripts may be subject to plagiarism detection tools.

The journal provides open access to all published content.
- Article Processing Charges (APC)
The journal does not charge any fees for submission, processing, or publication of manuscripts.

- Submission of Manuscripts

- Technical Instructions for Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts must be prepared according to the following technical requirements:
- The total length of the manuscript (including text, tables, figures, title, abstract, and keywords in Croatian and English) must not exceed 10 pages.
- Margins: 3.0 cm (left), 2.5 cm (top, bottom, right).
- Manuscripts must be written in Microsoft Word using Times New Roman, 12 pt.
- Use single line spacing with justified text alignment.
- The title, author names, and section headings should be left-aligned.
- The title should be written in lowercase letters, bold, size 14 pt.
- Author names (full name and surname) should be written in 12 pt.
- Affiliations (institution, city, country) should be written below the authors’ names in 11 pt, italic.
- The corresponding author’s e-mail address should be provided in parentheses.
- Section headings should be written in lowercase letters, bold and italic, 12 pt.
- Paragraphs should not be indented. A spacing of 3 pt should be used between paragraphs.
- Pages should not be numbered.
- Blank lines (12 pt) should be used to separate:
- title and authors
- authors and affiliations
- before headings
- before and after tables
Tables, Figures, and Illustrations
- Tables, figures, and images must be included within the text.
- Tables should be numbered, and titles placed above the table.
- Figures and graphs should be numbered, and titles placed below them.
- Tables should contain minimal lines (horizontal lines only, 0.5 pt).
- Images should be of high quality (preferably high-contrast).
- References and Citation
References must be listed in alphabetical order by the surname of the first author.
The journal uses an author–date (Harvard-type) citation system.
Each reference must include:
- author(s)
- year of publication
- title of the work
- publication source
- volume and issue
- page numbers or DOI
- Structure of the Manuscript
Manuscripts should generally include:
TITLE:
The title should be concise and informative.
Authors’ full names (without academic titles) should be listed below the title. If authors are affiliated with different institutions, superscripts should be used.
Affiliations must include institution, city, and country.
The corresponding author’s e-mail address must be provided.
ABSTRACT:
The abstract should include:
- aim of the study
- methodology
- main results
- conclusion
Maximum length: 700 characters.
KEYWORDS:
4–6 keywords separated by commas.
Avoid:
- repetition of title words
- abbreviations and special symbols
INTRODUCTION:
Presents the research problem, objectives, and a brief literature review.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
Must contain sufficient detail to allow reproducibility.
Well-known methods should be referenced.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:
Present and interpret results.
Compare findings with relevant literature.
Avoid duplication of data in text and tables/figures.
CONCLUSION:
Summarizes the main findings of the study.
REFERENCES:
Listed alphabetically.
TITLE, ABSTRACT AND KEYWORDS IN ENGLISH:
Must be provided and placed at the end of the manuscript if the paper is written in Croatian.
